East African nation Malawi has announced eliminating visa requirements for citizens of 79 countries to boost tourism. President Lazarus Chakwera said the move will make the country more accessible and attract visitors to its diverse attractions. Tourism is a crucial contributor to Malawi's economy, alongside sectors like tobacco and tea.

The decision reflects a strategic approach to capitalise on the nation's natural beauty and cultural heritage by removing entry barriers for tourists from various countries, signalling a commitment to fostering a welcoming environment.

This initiative can potentially showcase Malawi's wildlife, landscapes, and Lake Malawi to a broader international audience, contributing to the country's development and global recognition as a tourist destination.
