A leading travel organisation&rsquos recent findings have divulged people&rsquos plans for the upcoming holiday season through a large-scale survey.

Conducted between November 15, 2020 and December 5, 2020, the survey assimilated two thousand people into its fold, and attempted at gauging their ideal holiday season arrangement taking into account the current situation.

One in every third Indian is scheduling a holiday-getaway for Christmas and New Year&rsquos, according to Goibibo&rsquos survey results. About 70% of respondents&rsquo claims insinuate that they&rsquore planning on spending time with their family, spouse, or partner, while the rest indicate their inclination toward travelling with friends and long-not-met colleagues to conclude the year.

About 60% of respondents considering travel as a viable option are gravitating toward spending the end of the year in the hills or sprawled out on beaches.

Equally split between the two choices, they hanker behind the idea of their destinations bringing them in proximity with nature.

Also prioritising safety, the survey recorded their bias toward sanitation, hygiene, and safety certification at any place they choose for vacationing. While 70% respondents stated that they would spend time outdoors, engage in adventure activities, and savour the sights, a mere 20% expressed their desire to round off the year at bars or parties.

In response to these trends, Rajesh Magow, co-founder and group CEO, MakeMyTrip Limited, said, &ldquoOver the past few months, we have worked closely and creatively with the entire travel and hospitality value chain to raise safety standards and help customers make the journey from being homebound to being travellers again. Bookings for the winter festive holiday season on goibibo indicate an increase in travel to domestic leisure destinations including Goa, Lonavala, Mahabaleshwar, Pondicherry, Coorg, Shimla, Manali and Darjeeling. As we step into 2021, we are confident of a continued upward travel trend that will find more force as the mass vaccine rollout plan materializes.&rdquo

The survey prophesies that the winter holiday season will witness about 60% leisure travellers booking a trip for two or more days, and predicts the revival of long-distance leisure travel.
