Sitting cross-legged on the floor while your grandmother spins tales of foe and friends, good and bad, comedy and tragedy&mdash it is an age-old tradition we have all come to love. As children, it seemed magical to hear such fantastical stories unfold. But as we grew older and more pragmatic, we lost the charm of these stories of younger days. Udaipur Tales is an international festival that aims at reviving this art and culture of storytelling. The festival is now back with its third edition in the City of Lakes Udaipur.

The three-day event provides an international platform to dedicated storytellers, whether it is folk ensembles, shamanic storytelling or dastangoi. The stories, embedded with culture and tradition, give the viewer a reflection of the society in which they live. Co-founded by Sushmita Singha and Salil Bhandari, the festival celebrates and facilitates storytellers from around the world as they showcase their artform. Western, suspense, humor, fantasy, romance, satire, classic and fable are some of the genres that you can witness at the event.

This edition will see the presence of well-reputed writers and actors, like Sanjukta Sinha, Piyush Mishra, Shantanu Guha Ray, Vilas Jhanve, Vikram Shridhar, Valentina Trivedi, Seema Wahi Mukherjee, Usha Venkatraman and Syed Sahil Agha, among others.
