Kolkata, Goa and Jaipur to Host World Peace Music Festival Sur Jahan

Get ready to enjoy some vibrant folk music from around the world, including India, at the World Peace Music Festival Sur Jahan, through February. Organised by a Kolkata-based cultural and social welfare enterprise, Banglanatak dot com, the festival will take place in Kolkata, the city of its origin, from January 31 to February 2. Then it will travel to Goa (February 5-7) and Jaipur (February 8-10).

World Peace Music Festival Sur Jahan is a collaboration among music bands from around the globe and folk artists of India to convey the message of togetherness and harmony through music.

The line-up from abroad includes Dalinda from Hungary, who will be exploring beyond their usual &nbspA&rsquocapella performance Radiant Arcadia from Denmark, an all-woman band whose members are from Muslim, Jewish and Christian background, and whose repertoire includes Nordic and Celtic folk music, to jazz, rock, Klezmer and Middle Eastern ballads godfather of Nordic music Ale M&oumlller, South Korean band Coreyah and the legendary singer Dany&egravel Waro from the Reunion Island. The Indian contingent will be represented by the Langas of Rajasthan, an ensemble called the Folks of Bengal and a team of Bauls from West Bengal. 

Other than musical performances, there will be workshops in the day time. Besides, there will be handicrafts on sale where artists from West Bengal and Rajasthan will participate.

In Kolkata, the festival will be held in Mohor Kunj on Chowringhee (near Maidan metro railway station), from 6pm to 9pm.

No entry fee for musical performance or crafts fair.
