&lsquoMessages from New Zealand&rsquo, a virtual campaign by Tourism New Zealand, has been launched in India in an effort to promote the island nation as a destination for travellers.

The campaign was unveiled in the presence of David Pine, New Zealand&rsquos High Commissioner to India.

It features video messages from New Zealanders who talk about hope and care in regards to their international family, and highlights Kiwi perspectives to show what is significant to them.

The Regional Trade Marketing Manager Asia of Tourism New Zealand, Steven Dixon, said that the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the travel sector in a huge way in the last couple of months and it important that people from the New Zealand tourism industry stay connected to travel trade people and visitors in India.

The aim of the campaign is to build a preference for the island country as a travel destination along with building a brand appeal. For now, the campaign is being targeted to reach as many Indians as possible through influencer associations in social media websites.

Dixon also said that nobody knows at the moment when borders are likely to reopen and that the New Zealand government will take into account public health when they do welcome visitors again.

As many as 27,770 Indians visited New Zealand for a holiday in 2019.
