National Gallery of Modern Art Launches Audio-Visual Guide App

On the occasion of International Museum Day, today (May 18), the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), New Delhi, has launched its first-ever audio-visual guide app. This app will make it possible for museum viewers to listen to stories and anecdotes on their smartphones of several treasured Indian Modern artworks displayed at the museum anywhere at any time.

&ldquoThe launch of NGMA&rsquos Audio-Visual Guide App is a major landmark," said&nbspDG NGMA Shri Adwaita Gadanayak. "It will help people connect with art in an intimate way. I especially hope that our children and youth will use the app prolifically, experiencing art as a vital expression of the human spirit.&rdquo

If you miss going to the museums because of the pandemic, do not worry because this app acts like your personal audio-visual guide, giving you a full tour of the several galleries across the museum. To listen to the narrations, you need to download the app and navigate the content using the numbers mentioned. The same numbers are also displayed next to the artwork at the museum.

The museum tours on the app incorporate a rich mix of audio-visual content like images, videos and voice. They aim to enhance the visitors&rsquo user experience at the museum, enabling them to &ldquovisit&rdquo the artworks virtually. The text is also written in an engaging storytelling format that narrates the artist&rsquos life and thoughts behind the artwork and their techniques to create the piece.

The NGMA app is free for all users. A web version of the app can be accessed by just scanning the QR code at the location if people are not keen on downloading the app. it is available on both Google Play and Apple App Store.
