After a pause of almost 169 days, the Delhi Metro has been back on track with staggered trains since September 7. By September 13, as many as three lakh journeys had been undertaken. All the major lines have now been made operational since September 11.
Looking at the crowds during rush hour, which lies mostly between 8am to 12 noon and from 4pm to 8pm, Delhi Metro has introduced new steps to facilitate a safe journey for commuters.
They have announced that a headway of two minutes and 45 seconds to six minutes will be maintained from 8am to 8pm.
Social distancing signs are also being put up inside the trains, and on alternate seats to ensure gaps in seating.
Out of 2,200 coaches, 800 already have floor stickers in place while the remaining 1,400 coaches will get them by this week. All passengers will have to go through thermal screening, and will have to wear masks at all times. The DMRC has been extra cautious as Delhi is one of the worst hit cities in the country.
