This village, known for its renowned monastery, exudes a relaxed atmosphere and provides various indoor and outdoor leisure activities, trendy bars, boutique shops, and exhilarating mountain sports. Here is a to-do list to keep handy on your next trip to Engelberg.

The impressive Mount Titlis peak, at an elevation of 3,238 meters above sea level, is accessed by the Titlis Rotair- the world's first rotating cable car. Visitors are treated to a 360-degree sweeping view of the grandeur of Titlis via an interconnected gondola system that joins the Engelberg village with Mount Titlis via three cable cars.

Titlis Glacier Park
Part of the charm of Titlis Glacier Park is in getting there. You can zip down the snow toy runs, balancers, scooters, sledges and mini-bobs. Snow-tubing here is the ultimate sledging experience which will see you skimming the glistening snow as you hurtle down the piste on a rubber tyre. Sit back and enjoy the luxury of returning to the top of the magic carpet conveyor belt.

Titlis Cliff Walk
This spectacular suspension bridge that hangs from steel cables at 3,041 metres above sea level is 500 metres above the ground, one metre wide and over 100 metres long. You will have to put all your fears aside in exchange for the breathtaking views of the stunning snow-covered abyss below. Once you have completed the walk, you can tick off a box for walking through the highest suspension bridge in Europe.

Walking through this dimly lit cave emitting a turquoise-blue glow gives you a feel of the shivering winter chill. It is an experience of a lifetime; however, at 1.5 degrees, you are breathing out puffs of tiny white clouds, and you are touching and feeling ice as old as 5,000 years.

Not only this, the numerous restaurants in and around Engelberg invite you to an unforgettable culinary experience. From Swiss specialities like fondue and Raclette to various Asian dishes, you will find everything in this monastery village. Be sure to bite at the Indian speciality restaurant Spice Bazaar if you crave something from your homeland. Finally, visit the Show Cheese Factory, the only cheese factory in Switzerland located inside a monastery—the Engelberg monastery. You can buy the famous Engelberger Klosterglocke—a mild cheese pressed into the shape of a monastery bell here and pick up other varieties of goat and sheep cheese and yoghurt.
