Travel with a view on these picturesque bridges around India

Nearly four decades ago, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi inaugurated the then longest river bridge in India over the river Ganges connecting Patna to the north of Bihar. Fast-forward to 2019, the country has seen some of the best structures of flyovers, expressways, tunnels, and bridges pop up. Coming together to form one of the world's largest road networks, the bridges have become essential to the growth of India. Often synonymous with traffic, bridges around the country are home to stunning picturesque views. After all, the best experiences are those that remain in our memories forever. Sometimes, the best way to enjoy Mother Nature is from the middle of a river. Here is a list of bridges around India whose sublime beauty is sure to seal a place in your hearts.

Jadukata Bridge, Meghalaya

In tune with nature, this Northeast destination is the most soothing on the list. The Jadukata Bridge, set in the West Khasi Hills District, is surrounded by omnipresent greenery in all directions. The shortest bridge on our list it is tantalizingly close to the Indo-Bangladesh border. The cloudless sapphire skies, the dreamy waves, and the lush greens create the perfect harmony to give a sublimely aesthetic view.

Howrah Bridge, Kolkata

Kolkata and Howrah Bridge are as inseparable as Idli and Sambhar. A landmark etched deep in the history of Kolkata, the iconic bridge dates back to 1943. Located over the Hooghly River, I remember its eternal beauty from a particular scene in the movie as Deepika Padukone and co travel over the bridge to reach their ancestral home. Lit up by an abundance of LED lights after a blanket of darkness sweeps over the Howrah Bridge, 's stunning charm comes to the fore captivating imaginations.

Dhola-Sadiya Bridge, Assam

Bypassing the Lohit River, a tributary of the Brahmaputra River, the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge provides an authentic view of the Northeast. Ambushed with the lush green and the transcendent waters, the bridge is the longest in India making for a driveway through here a blissful one. Serving to connect Assam to Arunachal Pradesh a drive through the early morning just as the sun kisses the horizon is highly recommended with streaks of blazing orange providing for a gorgeous backdrop for your photogenic self.

Bandra-Worli Sea Link, Mumbai

Lazy late afternoons in Mumbai are just what you need to get away from the chaos that envelops this bustling metropolitan. At Castella de Aguada, a Portuguese fort that once guarded the Mahim Bay, the dipping sun rays bring out the latent beauty of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The bridge lights up serving as the perfect guide for its travellers making their journey from the laid-back suburbs to the glittering skyline of its urban counterpart. Catch the Sea Link in all its glory here.

Godavari Arch Bridge, Andhra Pradesh

An engineering wonder, the Godavari Arch Bridge is one of its kinds in India. Running over the Godavari River in the city of Rajahmundry, it runs in parallel with the Havelock Bridge. Especially gorgeous during the evenings as the golden arcing rays illuminate the undulating waves. The far-off horizon, shrouded in mist at the start of the journey, tethers of seemingly uncovering the frantic life of the Andhra city.

Pamban Bridge, Tamil Nadu

Over a century old, the Pamban Bridge connects the island of Rameswaram to the mainland. Standing on the Palk Strait this historical bridge is blessed with the most serene of scenery. Surrounded by turquoise waters, one can get a sensational view of India's southernmost city, Rameswaram and the Indira Gandhi Road Bridge that runs parallel to it.
