Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival was put on hold for two years. This is the 23rd edition of the festival named after the Indian Hornbill&ndasha bird reflected in Nagaland's folklore and often spotted in the state's forests. From spectacular music events to traditional sports like archery, dances and crafts, and an array of local food festivals - the festival is a showcase of traditional and modern. The venue is the Naga Heritage Village in Kisama, about 12 km from the capital city of Kohima. The area is designed to resemble Nagaland's diverse cultures with tribal huts allocated per their geographical locations.
