East Coast Cycling Trail

Clear roads sprinkled with sparkling beaches make this trail one of the best in India. The route, going through Mahabalipuram, is renowned for its glistening seaside views. The journey which also happens to be the easiest on this list will take 1-2 days depending on your stamina and belief. The 150km adventure will involve pedaling past Kelambakkam where the Thiruporur temple pond will be brimming with water. The glorious lush green of the East Coast Region is sure to bring a smile on your face.

Biking From Guwahati To East Khasi Hills

Onto the land of the seven sisters in Northeast India we go. The next trail starts from Assam's largest city, Guwahati and goes on till Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya crossing the East Khasi Hills on the way. Called the Scotland of India due to its verdant meadows and elegant streams, the journey is one for the soul. Spot gigantic waterfalls, extremely long root bridges dating back to decades and beautiful ravine along the way.

Trekking to Japfu Peak

Located in the northeast (Nagaland), the trail weaves through the stunning Dzukou valley. Trekkers also have a chance to spot a variety of flora and fauna including migratory birds and soul-pleasing varieties of lilies. While doing the trek and understanding the topography, you will realise that the valley is at the bottom of a large crater, or caldera, of a long extinct volcano which can be spotted from the rim of the caldera. Your trail will be peppered with dense forests, lush meadows and bamboo thickets.

A Lake Trek

The gushing blue-green water running through the Dhauladhar range in Kullu valley is Lake Prashar. This lake trek offers breathtaking views throughtout the trail, with Kinnaur and Shimla visible from the top. Dedicated to sage Prashar, the oval-shaped lake has a temple beside it and a small, circular island on its surface which keeps changing location from time to time. Apart from that, the depth of the lake hasn&rsquot been mapped yet.

The Snow Leopard Trek

Giving you a sense and feel of remote Ladakh, opt for the Rumbak valley trek for a thrill. Remember to be fit because the trek is challenging. Start off by entering the Hemis National Park gate in Zingchen, the trail gradually ascends to Rumbak valley and can last for about a day to reach the destination. Over the course of the next few days, you can explore the cultural folklore of the place and witness some spectacular views of the mountains during the nights, especially with the clear starry skies on offer. Search for the elusive snow leopard on foot and also spot rare species of wildlife like Ibex, Tibetan antelope, blue sheep, shapo, marmot and the Tibetan hare. This trek usually lasts for about 8-9 days with the altitude of the trek ranging from 3700 to 4500 metres.
