Denmark now holds the world record for the world&rsquos tallest sandcastle beating previous record holder Germany.

A team of sculptors led by Wilfred Stijger from Holland created the 21.16 meter (69.4 feet) high sand castle in Blokhus, &nbspa beach resort in the northern part of the country.

This sand castle is 3.5 meter taller than Germany&rsquos sand castle.

The German sand castle was 17.66 meters in height and was built in 2019 by a team led by Thomas van den Dungen under the aegis of Skulptura Projects GmbH (Germany), in Binz, Germany.

The latest record holding castle has been built with 4,860 tonnes of sand from Denmark and shaped like a triangle so that it does not collapse.

The sand contains 10 per cent clay so that it glues better. The artists also applied an extra layer of glue on the structure so that it lasts through the winter.

The sand castle has been sculpted with various figures, including reminders of the grim COVID-19 pandemic that devastated the world. Local elements such as beaches, lighthouse, windsurfing, etc. have also been incorporated into it.

Media quoted sculptor Wilfred Stijger as saying that they put a sculpture resembling the virus as the corona (crown) on top. It is a reminder to the world how the coronavirus is &lsquoruling&rsquo the lives of people and as a reminder of following the rules such as wearing masks, he said.

Interestingly, a sand castle created in Odisha&rsquos Puri beach Indian master sand sculptor Sudarsan Pattanaik in 2017 had created waves around the world. The 14.84 metres (48 ft. 8 inches) high castle was made entirely by hand and was dedicated to world peace.
