Watch New York Turns White due to Record-Breaking Snow Storm

OT Staff

The huge snowstorm Oriena has brought chaos to the east coast of the US, and led to cancellation&nbspof several flights, closing of schools and postponing of vaccination drives.

The nor&rsquoeaster brought several inches of snow across the five boroughs. According to a report in Bloomberg, New York&rsquos Central Park received 17.2 inches (44 centimeters) since Sunday, which makes the storm the city&rsquos 16th heaviest since 1869, the US Weather Prediction Center said Wednesday.

Times Square was engulfed by powdery white snow and icy winds making the city quiver in cold. Such a storm occurred after several years in the US.

As Orlena led everyone back into hibernation, the white city was a sight to behold with cars covered in thick snow, streets barely visible under the icy carpet and trees looking like vanilla ice cream cones under the weight of all that snow.

The city may be buried but spirits continued to be high, mostly, with people coming out for snowfights.

Snowplow operators did their best to keep up with the rapidly accumulating snowfall. Experts said the cold wave will be of a short duration, and will most probably be over by March.
