Weekend is when the fun for most begins. But in Delhi, weekends will mean curfew and closed shutters in the coming week. With 10,665 new cases and a high positivity rate, the national capital is all set for weekend curfew.
Given the sudden surge of cases, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority on Tuesday decided on imposing additional restrictions on weekends along with the ongoing night curfew (from 10pm to 5am).
As per the new guidelines, most businesses, public places like malls, cinemas, restaurants and gyms shall remain closed during the weekend except for the shops catering to the essential services. Government officials, diplomats, doctors, legal practitioners, media and other citizens providing essential or emergency services shall be exempted from the rule on showing valid identification proof, as per the new rules.
Those planning to attend weddings would be required to deliver a soft or hard copy of the wedding card. Also, no more than 20 people shall be allowed to be a part of the event.
Contrary to the previous instruction given by the Delhi government, buses and metro trains will now run at 100 per cent capacity as opposed to the earlier rule of 50 per cent. However, travel in public transport will be in strict compliance with the covid protocols. The decision has been taken to avoid overcrowding near bus and metro stations.
In view of the situation, all cultural events stand cancelled for now.
