OT Staff

Art has a way of impacting and influencing our lifestyle covertly. Artwork of various centuries have subtly intertwined into fashion, advertising, graphic design, and many other industries. If you consider yourself to be an appreciator of the arts, mark your calendar from January 30 to February 2, 2020, as India Art Fair (IAF) returns for its 12th edition. Hosted in the capital, the event is a platform to discover and explore artists from India, as well as neighbouring countries. Art galleries, national institutions, charities, and independent artists participate to display their works and engage in discussions.

This year, modern and contemporary art from South Asia will take over as a window to the cultural landscape of diverse places. While professionals in the industry inevitably flock to the premises, amateur enthusiasts also visit to broaden their knowledge of art and be introduced to new art forms and artists, as well. In fact, the Young Collector&rsquos Programme aims to increase audience through masterclasses, studio visits and tours. It is also the ideal opportunity to acquire art.

Galleries from Asia, Europe, North and South America have been delicately curated for IAF 2020, that will also see the presence of large scale installations and artwork from select artists. The new &lsquoArtists in Residence&rsquo programme will see specialist sessions and workshops by artists like Gagan Singh, Manisha Parekh, Renuka Rajiv, Marcel Dzama, and Ghiora Aharoni. Auditorium talks about the rising textile arts&mdashfocussing on the medium and pushing its boundaries&mdashwill be conducted by Arshi Irshad Ahamadzai ad Raisa Kabir. And let&rsquos not forget about the performing arts section boasting an impressive line-up, including National Award winner Maya Krishna Rao, multimedia artist Jelili Atiku, and more of the like.

Around the year, IAF hosts initiatives, workshops and programmes to invite unique visitors and add to the art community and audience.

India Art Fair will be hosted at NSIC Exhibition Complex- NSIC Exhibition Ground, New Delhi  from January 30 to February 2, 2020. Visit their website for more details.
