Delhi Airport Develops Portals for International Passengers

Vishnu Mohan

Here's some good news for international travellers coming to India. The Delhi International Airport has developed an online portal that will enable them to apply for exemption from mandatory institutional quarantine by filling an online self-declaration form. Earlier, passenegers had to fill physical forms on arrival.

Those who are eligible for exemption from the 7-day quarantine fall under five categories, including those travelling with their kids who are below 10, pregnant women, those who have had a death in the family, those who have a serious illness, and those who have COVID-negative certificate of a test done at least 96 hours before the journey.

If you fall under this, you have to fill the e-form available on the website. The applicants will have to submit supporting documents, including a copy of passport, at least 72 hours before boarding their flights along with the form. Once done, you will be e-mailed a copy (either of approval or rejection). Howeverm you will have to do a 14-day quarantine at home.

"Those eligible for exemption from mandatory institutional quarantine can show the approval certificate at the transfer area after landing and walk out hassle-free," said the DIAL in a press release.

This will help flyers complete formalities faster while reducing congestion at the arrival hall of the airports.

The forms have been developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of External Affairs, and various state governments. Earlier, passengers were required to register with the Indian embassy in their respective country, however, now the online form all is all one needs to fill in.
