Take a Glass-Ceiling Bus between Manali and Leh for the View

OT Staff

Travelling through Himachal Pradesh just got even more exciting. Coming next month, you can take in the picturesque mountainscape when you journey between Manali and Leh from luxury, glass-ceilinged Vistadome buses.

The Himachal Pradesh government will run these buses inside the Rohtang tunnel that will be inaugurated in September. Reports indicate that the travelling time between Leh and Manali will be reduced to five-and-a-half hours from the previous eight hours as the distance will be cut from 474 kms to 428 kms. Travellers can gaze through the glass rooftop in the Vistadome buses to capture the scenic beauty of the mountains.

Many Indian Railways trains passing through mountainous regions are equipped with Vistadome coaches. Some of the popular ones are run by Kangra Valley Railway, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway and Kalka-Shimla Railway. The railways had previously decided to equip Vistadome coaches to all mountain trains. And in October last year, it was announced that every train that comes to Goa will have one or two Vistadome coaches with large windows on the sides and glass panels on the roof.
