After two rejuvenating days at SAii Laguna Phuket, I was ready to sink deeper into island bliss at the stunning SAii Phi Phi Island Village—just a two-hour speedboat ride away. Set on the pristine Loh Ba Gao Bay, this resort isn’t just beside the beach; it feels like an inseparable part of it.
Upon arrival, I was swiftly driven to my stay for the night—the Deluxe Garden Villa. Tucked a couple of rows back from the shore, it still carried with it the soothing soundtrack of ocean waves.
The villa, styled in calming neutral tones and accented with touches of the sea—like a striking wall feature made from marine rope—felt instantly welcoming. High ceilings added to its airy charm, while the ultra-spacious vanity with its backlit mirror was a detail that brought both elegance and function.
Perfect for a solo traveller or a couple, the Deluxe Garden Villa is just one of 201 accommodation options across the property. Guests can also choose from suites, bungalows, and hillside pool villas, the latter complete with private plunge pools that open up to panoramic views of the Andaman Sea framed by dramatic cliffs.
Though one might expect Phi Phi to attract a certain kind of holidaymaker, the resort caters seamlessly to all. Within the grounds, there’s plenty to do—tennis courts, a fully equipped fitness centre, and the serene SAii Spa tucked into the hillside, surrounded by lush greenery. For those drawn to the ocean, the on-site PADI-certified dive centre makes exploring some of the world’s best dive sites easy and accessible, with experiences tailored to different skill levels and age groups.
The Marine Discovery Centre is another highlight, blending education with experience. Guests can learn about coral propagation and the resort’s wider marine conservation efforts, or head out on guided activities such as paddleboarding and kayaking.
For a more leisurely escape, the two expansive swimming pools overlooking the ocean offer the perfect spot to simply lose yourself to endless shades of blue.
Dining here is equally rewarding. While familiar favourites like Miss Olive Oyl and Mr Tomyam make a return from Phuket, the Phi Phi property adds its own stars—chief among them, Ruan Thai. This restaurant is a showstopper not just for its food, but for its heritage-inspired setting: built on-site from the reclaimed timber of a decades-old Thai teak house. The menu honours its roots with authentic specialities often overlooked elsewhere. Standouts for me included the pomelo salad with grilled tiger prawns, the pork salad with roasted rice and Thai herbs, and a deeply comforting massaman curry.
By the time I left, it was clear that SAii Phi Phi Island Village isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a world within itself. With its thoughtful blend of luxury, sustainability, and a deep connection to its natural surroundings, the resort lets you experience Phi Phi at its most soulful.
