Nagaland has 16 major tribes and numerous sub-tribes, each of which celebrate some festival or the other every month. The idea behind the Hornbill Festival was to bring the tribes under one roof, for the world to see their rich culture, tradition and rituals, to create a sense of unity among the tribes and to resurrect some of the traditions that were fading out.

Owing to the reach of the festival and its largescale impact on the state&rsquos youth population, this year the underlying idea is to also promote health and wellness among youngsters with "The Birds And Bees Talk" with Reckitt, the health partner of the Hornbill Festival 2022. A leading global health and hygiene company, Reckitt seeks to comprehensively address life skills in youth between 10 to 19 years in six eastern states of India with its innovative programmes.
