Summer in some parts of India mean easy, breezy sunny days and then there are places hot enough to melt plastic products and wax at room temperature. The notorious hot summer days of northern, western and central India can be very off-putting. Steer clear of Delhi, Nagpur, most cities of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Mercifully, these hot cities are also in close proximity to some of the best hill stations. In north India, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir provide the much-needed respite. Northeastern states sound like a good option but they are not. Monsoon starts early (as early as March/April), though February-March can be very pleasant and if you are lucky enough, you might even get rain-free days to holiday in the northeastern part of India. Hill stations o Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra are beautiful during this time of the year.
