Ganesh Haloi is a prominent artist noted for his innate poetry and longing for a lost culture, which was heavily affected by his upbringing in Jamalpur, Mymensingh (now in Bangladesh), and his transfer to Calcutta following India's Partition. The restrained and limited use of formal components in his paintings liberates the field of vision while also calling for reflection. You can see his works in Ganesh Haloi Re-citations: Rhymes About Land, Water and Sky, an exhibition presented by the Birla Academy of Art and Culture and Kiran Nadar Museum of Art. The large-scale exhibition spans the decades-long artistic journey of Haloi and explores his profound connection to nature, the spatial interplay between enclosures and expansions and metaphors of life.

Watch A Play In A Heritage House

The popular show "Kaagaz ke Gubbare" is back in Kolkata. This time, it is being staged in a splendid 180-year-old opera-style house. The event is a selection of Ismat Chughtai’s writings and short stories—Kunwari, Ek Shauhar Ke Khatir, Chhui Mui, Gharwali, Pesha & Ghoonghat.
