World Sacred Spirit Fest Is Back With Its 13th Edition

The headliner World Sacred Spirit Festival will be held from February 13 to 16 this year at the majestic 15^th century Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, one of the largest in Rajasthan. Apart from the fort, the programmes will be spread across other venues in and around Mehrangarh, such as Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park, the Chokhelao Garden, Salim Kot and by the lake inside Jaswant Thada.

Presented by the Mehrangarh Museum Trust, the 13^th edition of the festival will bring together more than 200 artists from over 10 countries who will present the best of sacred music that transcend dogmatic beliefs and differences over caste and creed.

The artist line up is as diverse as the many genres of sacred music, including Sufi Kalam of Kashmir to the Manganiyars of Rajasthan, from wisdom songs of India to ancient Korean music, Sufi songs from Africa to Qawwali from India.  

This year, the festival will feature vocalist Kavita Seth, flautist Rakesh Chaurasia, Qawwal Danish Hussain Badayuni, the Kanishk Seth Trio, South Korea&rsquos Duo Bud, poet Walid Ben Salim, Cheikh Papa SOW Djimbira from Senegal, Loten Namling from Tibet, Ustad Daud Khan Sadozaï from Afghanistan. and many others.

And in between enjoying the sublime melodies, do not forget to explore the town of Jodhpur which is known as the Blue City of India. Some of the popular attractions include the Old City, Umaid Bhawan Palace, the twin lakes of Ranisar and Padamsar, the government museum, etc.
