UAE Bans Travel For Unvaccinated Citizens

Starting January 10, the United Arab Emirates will impose a travel ban on its citizens who are unvaccinated against coronavirus. For vaccinated citizens, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) will allow travel after a booster dose as per the country&rsquos Covid-19 protocol.

The announcement has come amid a sharp rise in Omicron cases across the world. On Saturday, the UAE reported 2,556 fresh Covid-19 cases in the previous 24 hours, taking the cumulative infections to 764,493, according to the ministry of health and prevention. However, UAE will allow travel for individuals who are medically exempted from taking the Covid-19 vaccine, are going for humanitarian cases, or travelling for medical and treatment purposes, as informed on its official twitter handle. 

Due to the surge in Covid-19 cases, there have been cancellation of hundreds of flights across the globe, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi&rsquos proposed visit to the Arab nation in January was put off, as per news reports.
