The place where no man has gone before, not any civilian at least, Siachen Glacier will soon be open to public. We are no stranger to the harsh conditions our soldiers brave at Siachen, the world's highest battlefield. Indian Army will soon allow civilians to visit the place to help sensitise people of the daily challenges of our soldiers. Though the Army is yet to disclose the locations and procedures necessary for the civilians to follow, we can be patient about this. The Siachen Glacier, located at an altitude of 5,400 m above sea level, is a part of the Karakoram Range. Siachen Glacier is a part of Ladakh, now separated from Jammu and Kashmir, and is home to many harsh glacial terrains.
