Ranga Shankara is one of the Bengaluru's well known theatre venues. They host an annual theatre festival with plays in several languages, along with readings and platform performances. The festival has become a landmark on India's theatre scene.
This year, the Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival has gone digital for the first time due to the pandemic.
The Bengaluru-based theatre group will showcase five plays and a workshop by former Shankar Nag Theatre award recipients.
The plays will also be screened at the foyer of the theatre. The number of viewers at the venue, however, will be capped at 50.
The line-up of plays to be screened includes Abhishek Majumdar's Salt, Mohit Takalkar's The Colour Of Loss, renowned puppeteer Anurupa Roy's Teelapur Ka Rakshasha, Sankar Venkateswaran's Criminal Tribes Act, QTP's Lunch Girls and an online panel with Toral Shah, Producing in the New Century Changing Perspectives.
One of the most talked about plays of this year&rsquos fest is acclaimed theatre director and playwright Abhishek Majumdar&rsquos Salt which revolves around a family of three women, a mother and her two daughters, who are coping with the pandemic and its resulting shortcomings by telling each other stories and faking the food on their plate.
