The Nilgiris is Shut for Tourists Right Now

Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, botanical and rose gardens, Ooty Lake, and Sims Park at Coonoor are some tourist places that will remain closed to visitors till April 30

The Tamil Nadu government has decided to close the borders of the Nilgiri district for travellers. People travelling for purposes other than tourism will be allowed to enter the district borders.

Nilgiris Collector J Innocent Divya stated that the people visiting the hill station for business, medical purposes, trade, or other essential amenities will be allowed to enter only after relevant documents are submitted.

Special teams will be allotted on the border check posts to check the purpose of visits in the district. The state government aims to restrict movement to essential services only.

According to the order passed by the government, Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, botanical and rose gardens, Ooty Lake, and the Sim&rsquos Park at Coonoor are some tourist places that will remain closed to visitors till April 30.

The Collector further added that processing industries in the district will have to get special permission from the district administration in order to run their units. The staff and workers will have to get special identification cards for commuting purposes.

The e-registration process for entering Nilgiris from other districts will continue as usual.
