New Digital Health Pass to Ease Pandemic Travel

The Common Pass will make travelling amid the pandemic easier and hassle free.

As borders across the world slowly re-open to travellers and tourists, testing measures and precautions to be taken have increased, keeping in mind the potential threat posed by the coronavirus. An addition to the list of safety measures, in today&rsquos tech era is the &lsquoDigital Health Pass&rsquo.

The new &lsquoCommon Pass&rsquo, will make sure that passengers who want to travel have a negative test record for COVID-19. This will also save them the time spent in quarantining.

Five airlines have already initiated these digital health passports. They are Swiss International Airlines, United Airlines, Lufthansa, Virgin Atlantic and JetBlue. The digital health pass allows the travellers to record their COVID-19 test status and keep it as a proof, while travelling.

The digital travel pass not only stores test status and vaccination records, but also updates travellers about health screening information, requirements and preventive measures being taken, in other countries, or a particular destination, that an individual is travelling to.

The test status for COVID-19 in the digital health pass is easy to comprehend and will decrease the hassle of explaining it to airline authorities and border officials at different destinations. 

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) ia also planning a launch of its IATA Travel Pass in 2021. This is being devised with an aim to make it a uniform health pass, acceptable across countries and governments.
