Gods&rsquo own country has opened its doors for tourists after a lockdown of over six months. The state's hill stations, adventure and backwater spots started welcoming travellers from October 12. However, the state tourism minister Kadkampally Surendran said that beaches shall remain closed for now, and will open from November 1.

The news comes after Kerala recorded a spike in coronavirus cases in the last couple of days.
The state has shown an exemplary track record in tackling the spread of the virus and in testing, isolation and treatment of cases.
As tourists begin to flock to Kerala, several guidelines and safety measures have been put in place. Besides the usual masks, social distancing protocols and sanitisers, tourists who wish to visit Kerala for over seven days have to carry a COVID-19 negative certificate or undergo a test after entering the state. Or they will have to remain in quarantine for seven days.
If they are staying for less than seven days, they do not need a negative test result.
All tourists have to register online.
