One of the most preferred island destinations in the world, Bali, is getting ready for tourists again.
The reopening of the tourism industry will start with domestic tourists. From July end, locals will be allowed to visit beaches, temples and popular surfing spots. International tourists will be allowed from September 11.
This is part of the phased reopening of the economy, which will be done in three stages. The first phase beginning July 9 will see the opening of health services, government offices, markets, restaurants, transportation, finance, marine and construction-related work. The second phase from July 31 will allow all domestic travel to take place.
The third phase starts from September 11, and focuses on re-starting international tourism. However, we do not yet know yet if travellers from any country will be barred from entry. Most countries which have reopened borders so far have brought out lists of places in the green zone (travellers will be allowed from these), and those in the red (no travellers allowed). Let's see what Bali does.
Also, things are quite unpredictable on the pandemic front. It all depends on what the situation is like in September. The country had dealt with the virus outbreak quite well in its early phase. However, the number of cases have gone up in the past few weeks, probably due to an increase in testing.
