
The northeastern hem of Italy&rsquos boot, Emiliia Romagna is known for many reasons. The place where luxury cars Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini went into first gear the birth of the widely loved cheese, Parmigiano Reggiano the three-Michelin star restaurant, Osteria Francescana in the heart of Modena, among other things. And now the list is only getting longer.
Chef Massimo Bottura and his partner Lara Gilmore are opening a luxury inn, Casa Maria Lugia in Modena this April. An 18th century guesthouse has been redone and whipped into a boutique luxury expeirence. There will be 12 rooms, done with a mix of a contemporary and vintage aesthetic&mdasheach showcasing art from Bottura&rsquos collection. The experience will include access to a tennis court, a wooden-panelled pool, a vinyl record room, a vegetable garden, among other things. Guests will also have a breakfast included as part of their stay, highlighting Emilian ingrediants such as the Parmigiano Reggiano, Lambrusco and Aceto Balsamico.
