One of the few tiger reserves that stays partially open during the monsoon, Tadoba offers access to select zones such as Moharli, Kolara, and Navegaon. The rain-washed forests, thriving wildlife and reduced crowds make for a rewarding safari experience.
Immortalised in "The Jungle Book", Pench remains accessible through several buffer zones during the rainy season. Misty forests, lush landscapes, and chances to spot tigers, leopards and deer make it a favourite among wildlife enthusiasts.
Known for its relatively untouched wilderness, Satpura offers monsoon safaris in select buffer areas. Visitors can spot sloth bears, giant squirrels, crocodiles, and an impressive variety of birdlife amid verdant forests.
Part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, Nagarhole is particularly beautiful during the monsoon. The Kabini region remains accessible and is renowned for sightings of elephants, leopards, tigers and, occasionally, the elusive black panther.
Monsoon transforms Periyar into a lush green paradise. Boat safaris on Periyar Lake offer opportunities to spot elephants, gaur, and a wide range of bird species against a backdrop of mist-covered forests.
While some sections close during the rains, safari zones 6 to 10 remain open. The monsoon brings dramatic skies, greener landscapes, and fewer visitors, creating a unique setting for tiger spotting and wildlife photography.
