Step inside traditional Naga community houses to discover tribal heritage, giant log drums, intricate crafts, weaving demonstrations, and stories shared by elders in traditional attire.
At the heart of the festival, watch energetic war dances, folk songs, traditional rituals, and colourful parades that bring Nagaland’s rich cultural heritage to life.
From smoked pork with bamboo shoots to fermented soybean dishes, Naga food offers bold flavours. Try sticky rice and local rice beer, Zutho, too.
Browse festival stalls filled with handwoven shawls, bead jewellery, black pottery, and bamboo crafts. Buying directly from local artisans also supports traditional craftsmanship and livelihoods.
As evening sets in, head to Kohima for street food, bustling markets, and live music. Rock concerts add another layer to the festival experience.
For a taste of traditional sporting culture, look out for Naga wrestling, archery, top-spinning, and bamboo pole climbing, along with the fiery King Chilli eating competition.
Away from the festival crowds, Khonoma offers terraced paddy fields, historic stone forts and community-led conservation. It makes a rewarding day trip from Kohima.
